How It Works
A. Registration and What You Need
- Set up an online brokerage account.
- You have many choices of brokerage services from reputable banks and wealth management platforms. We recommend using brokerages that do not charge trading commissions[1].
- In the United States, most institutions do not charge trading commissions.
- In Canada, only National Bank Direct Brokerage, Wealthsimple and Disnat do not charge trading commissions on most products[1].
- Transfer funds to your new brokerage account.
- Register on the Trend Prophets site and click on the activation email you receive.
- Go to the Trend Prophets Pricing page and select your plan.
B. Setting up Your Online Preferences
- After registering and activating your account, you will be redirected to your user notifications page (find the Notifications link on the left-hand menu).
- By default, you are subscribed to receive the Daily Dashboard email, which you will receive every night. This shows an overview of all strategies and their trend status (instructions on how to understand the email are found below).
- In addition to the Daily Dashboard email, you can also receive individual trade alert emails for your chosen strategies. Select the appropriate checkbox for each strategy you are interested in User Preference.
- Not sure which strategies to choose? Click here to see a list of everything we offer and information that will help you choose which strategies fit your risk and reward objectives.
C. Selecting the Strategies That are Right for You
- You can select strategies based on your risk and return objectives. You can also select strategies that will make you as much money as possible, but are more volatile, or you can select strategies for when you are most concerned with downside protection. The strategy summary page provides you with an overview of the return and risk for each strategy. Remember that each strategy can come with different leverage options that help increase returns (and risk). Please see our FAQ for information on leverage and if it is right for you.
- Each strategy has an information page that will provide you with:
- All tickers for the different investment options. For example, SPY, the S&P 500 ETF can be purchased in either Canadian or US Dollars and has multiple options for leverage (2x or 3x) that you could use.
- Not all strategies have options for leverage or multiple currencies.
- We also have suggested mixes of strategies that you can use. These combinations have been determined to offer a target return within a desired estimated maximum risk, defined by the expected worst case, or maximum drawdown.
D. How to Read the Daily Dashboard Email
We indicate when you should be invested by indicating a strategy is “Long”.
When the trend is negative and you shouldn’t be invested, we label the position as “Cash”.
Today’s position indicates the current trend and status of each strategy at the end of the forecast day. Yesterday’s position indicates what the trend was yesterday. If you see a change, then you need to trade on the next day.
In this case for SPY, there is no change of trend, and since it is long, you stay invested.

We also show the duration of the current trade in the Current Trade and what the performance is for the different investment options.
The Current Trend Performance columns indicate what the return is for the current trend for the various investment options. The Current Trend Duration column indicates how long ago in days the current trend began.

E. How to Read the Individual Trade Alert Email
- The individual trade alert will clearly tell you the trend turned from Long to Cash (or Cash to Long) and remind you of the tickers that could be traded.
A note on the Strategy Summary page
- The strategy summary page provides a brief overview of the strategies that we offer. We show some basic performance for each option available per strategy. For example, if you want to trade the NASDAQ (QQQ) strategy, we show you the performance for the base ticker with no leverage, and then the performance statistics for the 2x leverage (QLD), and the 3x leverage (TQQQ) versions.
- Each strategy also shows you an expected range of three criteria that could help you choose which strategies are best for you:
- Expected return potential
- Expected volatility
- Expected trading frequency
- These indicators are there to help inform you how often you could be trading, and the degree of volatility that you can expect to experience.
Always remember that Trend Prophets is a long-term investment strategy that rewards patience and discipline. It is the next generation of passive investing.
